Dance Company Awards Creative Prize to Pacific Alumnus Shaun Keylock
Shaun Keylock '15 was commissioned to create a world premiere dance performance by White Bird, the Portland-based performance advocacy organization. Keylock graduated from Pacific University in 2015 with majors in dance and art history.
Keylock was one of three artists to win the Barney Creative Prize from White Bird this year. Along with Trevor Wilde and Beth Whelan, Keylock will create a piece that will be performed in White Bird's 2020-2021 Uncaged series.
White Bird supports dance in the Northwest by commissioning pieces and by bringing dance companies to the region.
Keylock leads the Shaun Keylock Company, a troupe that creates works "that are at once technically sound and radically subversive." His first full-length production will be co-presented May 10-12 by New Expressive Works, 810 SE Belmont St., in Portland. Audiences will see four contemporary dance creations by Northwest choreographers: Jordan MacIntosh-Hougham, Josie Moseley, and Shaun Keylock. Tickets are available online.
