College of Optometry Faculty and Students Raise Money for AMIGOS Costa Rica Trip
Hillsboro’s Phở Viet restaurant is helping Pacific University College of Optometry students travel internationally to provide charitable vision care.
In late March, three teams of students and faculty members from Pacific University’s College of Optometry will travel to Costa Rica, Senegal and Nicaragua, respectively, to provide charitable vision care. Collectively, they will see more than 1,500 patients in five days.
The trip has been organized by AMIGOS Eye Care, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the College of Optometry. AMIGOS provides quality vision care at no cost to underserved people in the Portland area and beyond. Students raise funds to help pay for all expenses associated with AMIGOS trips.
Through March 19, Phở Viet will donate $2 to “team Costa Rica” for every Pacific student who dines at the restaurant. Students with a Boxer ID also receive 10 percent off their meal cost.
