Chunming Liu Promoted to Full Professor
Chunming Liu has been promoted to full professor at Pacific University.
Liu joined the Pacific University College of Optometry in July 2017 as an associated professor. She is a graduate of New England College of Optometry where she earned her OD degree. Prior to that, she received her PhD degree in neuroscience from Washington State University and a master of science in neurobiology from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.
Her primary clinical interests and research goals are directed at understanding the basic neural control mechanisms of visual system, exploring the pathophysiology underlining clinical binocular disorders, and developing potential treatment strategies to promote visual rehabilitation, especially in patients who had suffered from an acquired brain injury.
She is currently serving as the principle investigator for Childhood Atropine for Myopia Progression (CHAMP) study at Pacific University College of Optometry.
Liu also has extensive and diverse experience in didactic and clinical teaching in the related fields, and strives to stimulate students’ interest in the subject matter and to promote their critical thinking skills.
The non-tenure promotion in rank for faculty members is granted upon recommendation by college personnel committees and approval by the University Personnel Committee president.
