Chika Matsumoto '21: Outstanding Contributions to Student Life

Chika Matsumoto '21 received the 2021 Outstanding Contributions to Student Life Award from Pacific University.

Matsumoto, who hails from Hawai‘i, is an exercise science major who also minored in dance and Japanese. She was a member of the Pacific Dance Ensemble and also served as the undergraduate student representative on Pacific’s Board of Trustees.

“She has forged new connections between the board and student governance groups, advocating for underrepresented perspectives and seizing opportunities to be collegial and build relationships across areas,” her award nomination read. “The work she has put in will have a lasting, positive impact for years to come.”

Matsumoto is among five undergraduate seniors to receive Outstanding Contributions to Student Life awards in 2021. Other awardees included Jessica Monje Pérez '21, Seema Khatcherian '21, Keagan Weis '21, and Kiera Yap '21.

Matsumoto graduated in May 2021.
