Changes to Mask Requirements in Healthcare Settings
Effective April 3, 2023 workers, patients and visitors in healthcare settings will no longer be required to wear masks. This is per the recent announcement from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
Locations on Pacific University campuses that previously required masks included the Student & Employee Health Center, Student Counseling Center, Athletic Training Room and Pacific's public clinics. Masks may still be provided at these locations as an option, while supplies last. Any offices, programs or organizations that would like to continue to provide masks are asked to purchase them through individual offices.
People at higher risk for severe disease, or who live with someone at higher risk, should still consider wearing masks in health care or any settings, to better protect themselves and those most vulnerable around them.
The Oregon Health Authority and U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention also recommend masking and other precautions based on COVID-19 Community Levels. Locate COVID-19 community levels and current recommendations by state and county
If you are experiencing symptoms of an airborne illness (COVID-19, flu, etc.) and are unable to stay home, we urge mask use to protect the community.
Pacific University respects the choices of individuals who choose to wear a face mask to protect themselves or their community.
