Boxer Love Story: Mike Johansen '74, O.D. '75 and Heather (Higginbotham) Johansen '74

Mike was a junior at Pacific University and a teacher's assistant for the math department.

When he corrected papers, he would always use Heather’s paper as the key because the answers were always right. One time she made an error on a test so he called her back to correct it. After he had met her, he wanted to ask her out on a date but didn’t know how to do it. He walked up to her, punched her in the back and asked her to go to a movie. Surprisingly, she said yes, ended up dating for two years, and were happily married.

Mike passed away in 2010.
