Anna Nguyen '21: Pacific University's McCall Center for Civic Engagement Award
Anna Nguyen ’21 received the McCall Center for Civic Engagement Award after serving with the center for almost four years at Pacific University.
She has “embodied thoughtful, critical civic engagement as she has developed and coordinated civic engagement programs,” her nominators said. “Anna has demonstrated values of social responsibility, outstanding civil communication, and strong leadership as members of the McCall Center Civic Action Team.”
She also was a member of the Asian Pacific American Student Union and the Vietnamese Student Association. She also was a member of the women’s track and field team during her first year at Pacific.
Nguyen received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in motor behavior, graduating in May 2021. She says she plans to be an occupational therapist. She is from Portland, Ore.
In a statement for the McCall Center, Nguyen said “Once I become an OT, I would like to achieve my biggest civic engagement goal of collaborating with various healthcare professionals to assist clinicians at orphanages in Vietnam through a medical outreach program.”
Her classmate, Karen Ara, also was honored for civic engagement by the McCall Center.
