Alumni Spotlight: Ravi Patel PharmD ’10
After graduating from Pacific University’s School of Pharmacy in 2010, I moved back to my hometown of Boise, Idaho, where I took a pharmacist position with Fred Meyer. Here I followed the typical career path from floater to staff pharmacist to pharmacy manager.
I’ve been lucky to be able to work in one of the most progressive states when it comes to pharmacy practice. During my time as PIC (pharmacist in charge), I was especially proud to have implemented technician immunization, technician verification and pharmacist prescribing programs into our workflow. These expanded roles for pharmacists and technicians have allowed me to spend more time educating patients and improving healthcare access with our prescribing program.
In January 2020, I stepped down as pharmacy manager and took a part-time float position with Fred Meyer. I made this change so that I could help my parents with the operations of our family’s hotel business. It has been a nice change of pace for me, but I do miss my regular patients in the pharmacy.
Recently my cousins and I appeared on the game show Family Feud. We auditioned for fun, thinking we would never be selected. To our surprise, we were called to film in Atlanta, Ga., in May 2021, and our episodes aired in October. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and is something we will never forget.
