Alejandra Miranda APS ’21: School of Graduate Psychology Community Service Award
Alejandra Miranda APS ’21 received the Community Service Award from the Pacific University School of Graduate Psychology’s applied psychological sciences program.
"Alejandra was very involved in providing support to BIPOC students and the BIPOC community by being part of the BIPOC Student Support Task Force, organizing and facilitating BIPOC town halls, and serving Spanish-speaking clients at the Domestic Violence Resource Center," professors said. "Alejandra also completed a case study project related to her community work by examining the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions in Latinx clients with depressive and PTSD symptoms."
Prior to studying at Pacific, Miranda worked as a counselor and advocate with Shelter Care, a care coordinator with HIV Alliance, and as a direct support professional.
Miranda, who is from Salem, Ore., graduated from Pacific University in August 2021 with a master’s degree in applied psychological science. The terminal master’s degree program prepares students to work as a qualified mental health professional, clinical or applied researcher, or prepare for doctoral programs.
