One of the most pressing issues of our time is the rapidly changing environmental state of our planet and our strained relationship with the Earth’s natural processes.
This is why Pacific University staff, faculty and students are joining together to understand the intricacies and implications of climate crisis, become eco-advocates, and revision our relationship to our world.
As an institution of higher learning, Pacific takes seriously the unique opportunity to fully investigate the causes and implications of these issues, to empower our students to pioneer solutions, find connections, and to foster eco-literacy and leadership in our community of influence.
On this page you can learn more about our sustainability commitment: our five LEED-certified buildings, permaculture project, bike rental program, organic and local food options, and the incredible research that our faculty and students are currently involved in.
We’re also excited to share with you where we’re heading. Currently, Pacific is exploring opportunities to further integrate sustainability concepts into curricula, additional interdisciplinary scholarship and research that will lead to a more holistic view of sustainability issues, and finding more and more opportunities to use our unique campuses as learning laboratories for sustainability.
The path to a more sustainable future is a long journey and we look forward to sharing our progress, as well as a more personal look at sustainability initiatives on campus, with you on our blog.
