Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Our local chapter, Omicron Xi, was established in 1985. Anyone with an interest in biology can become a member at the associate level. Members receive a certificate of membership, membership card, BBB decals, can apply for Beta Beta Beta National scholarships, and can submit their original scientific work for publication in the peer-reviewed undergraduate journal BIOS.

Examples of some activities that the club has sponsored in the past include several types of social activities (faculty/student potluck dinners, sub sandwich parties, and crabbing at the coast), visits to the Oregon Regional Primate Center, a journal club, attending scientific lectures, and co-sponsoring career panels of Biology graduates to discuss career options.  The Beta Beta Beta members are currently discussing a variety of possible activities for the rest of the year.  The exact activities are determined each year by the members.

Our chapter is holding an informational meeting on Tuesday Nov. 3rd at 6:00 pm in Strain 121. Members will be present to answer questions and discuss the benefits of joining this honors society.  Because 6:00 is dinner-time for most folks, we will have pizza and drinks available.  In the spirit of sustainability, please try to bring your own cups and plates. If you would like to attend, RSVP to the club advisor, Erin Martin emartin@pacificu.edu by Monday Nov. 2nd .
