Health Professions "Building B" construction update
The latest construction update from Pacific's newest building project in Hillsboro
Construction is well under way in Hillsboro on our latest Pacific University building. The Health Professions Campus Building B, as it is currently known, will be the fifth of six new University building projects scheduled to receive a Gold LEED rating from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
The new building will be 59,800 square feet on four floors. Programs that will be housed in the new building include the Executive Dean's Office, Graduate Admissions, Campus Public Safety, School of Professional Psychology, Pharmacy Research, Anatomy Laboratory, Occupational Therapy, Shipping/Receiving/Mailroom and numerous student study rooms and spaces.
Creighton Hall will also receive selected remodel work as part of this project. The remodel work will begin this spring and be completed on the same schedule as the new building. Completion is scheduled for next August for use for classes next fall term. Areas to be remodeled are primarily located on the second floor and will include OT, IRIS Clinic, Admissions and the Virginis Garcia Pharmacy which will be moved to the first floor into the area now occupied by the Executive Dean's Office and CPS.
The structural concrete footings have been completed and the compacted gravel backfill now hides the large blocks of reinforced concrete. The structural engineers have designed the building to the very latest earthquake design standards. The structural concrete columns that will support the upper three floors and the roof are now visible. The electrical conduits and pipes that will serve the electrical, IT and plumbing and mechanical systems needs have been laid under the compacted gravel backfill. The first floor reinforced concrete slab has been poured and forms can now be seen that will support the second floor reinforcing and concrete when it is poured.
We have a web cam in place that will allow you to observe our construction progress. You can access the webcam here
