Speech team talks to the top

The Pacific speech team continued its successes with a dominating performance at the first Northwest Forensics Conference tournament held October 9-11 at Lewis and Clark College.


The Pacific speech team continued its successes with a dominating performance at the first Northwest Forensics Conference tournament held October 9–11 at Lewis and Clark College.

Senior Jennifer Conner placed first in Persuasive speaking and third in Program Oral Interpretation.

Senior David Maile won second in both Prose Interpretation and Poetry Interpretation.

Sophomore Lindsey McLaughlin placed fourth in Persuasive speaking, which was a combined event with open and junior speakers. McLaughlin won second in junior Persuasive and first in junior Prose.

Senior Vanessa Whalen, sophomore Lilly Huynh, and freshman Blaise Holden also attended the tournament.

The team placed fifth overall among four-year schools.

The Speech Team has a month-long break before tournaments resume in November with the Mahaffey Tournament, hosted by Linfield College.
