
PT Cruisers Participate in Komen Race for the Cure
Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Portland, Oregon (September 20, 2009) The following members and friends of the Pacific University School of Physical Therapy participated in the 2009 Race for the Cure.
Team members: Stephanie Miyasaki, Alison Horn, Ali Jakubowski, Jim Webster, Ashley Mildren, Tyler Mildren, Shannon Chung, Meredith Brunette, Erin Tagami, Taryn Kitamura, Kester Cotton, Marty Poorman, Professor Erin Jobst, and Professor John Medeiros. Team captain Stephanie Miyasaki reported that the PT Cruisers raised $742 to help raise awareness about early detection of breast cancer, help uninsured women receive mammograms, and help fund cancer research.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure promise is “to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cure.”
Susan G. Komen died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting to end breast cancer forever.
