Finishes with shutouts over Pacific Lutheran & Lewis & Clark
The freshman goalie is named NWC Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after posting two shutouts over Pacific Lutheran and Lewis & Clark
FOREST GROVE – A pair of shutouts that kept Pacific in the upper half of the league standings has earned goalkeeper Brittany Hartmann (Fr., Portland, Ore.) the Northwest Conference’s Women’s Soccer Defensive Student Athlete of the Week award. The honor, selected by the conference’s sports information directors, was announced on Tuesday morning.
Hartmann was responsible for a pair shutouts for the Boxers last weekend, including a 3-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran on Saturday and 0-0 tie with Lewis & Clark on Sunday.
“As a freshman, Brittany has stepped up to the challenge,” said Pacific Head Coach Joy Boswell, “playing like a returner and not a freshman with the help of her defensive line.”
Hartmann needed just two saves on Saturday in the Boxers’ 3-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran as they outshot the visiting Lutes by a 29-5 margin. She needed just one save in 110 minutes of action in the 0-0 tie at Lewis & Clark.
In her first season with the Boxers, Hartmann has become a solid, depended upon member of the Pacific defense. She currently owns a 0.87 goals against average, ranking her fifth among NWC netminders. She also ranks fifth in the conference with 35 saves and sixth with a .814 save percentage.
Pacific will wrap up the first half of their Northwest Conference schedule this weekend, traveling to Willamette on Saturday before hosting No. 1 ranked Puget Sound on Sunday. The Boxers currently own a 4-4-2 overall record and sit in third place in the NWC at 3-2-1 (10 points).
