STUDY ABROAD PHOTO CONTEST: revised deadline
Study Abroad Returnees from 2008-09, 2009-10, and Winter III classes abroad have until Dec 4th to submit photos of their trips for great prizes (including $20 gift cards from Barnes and Nobles, and many more).
Photos will be judged in the following five categories with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards and prizes within each category:
- PEOPLE (native to the country of study)
- PACIFIC STUDENTS ABROAD (you and your friends)
- NATURE AND LANDSCAPE
- ARCHITECTURE
- JUDGE’S AWARD (subjects that do not quite fit anywhere else)
RULES:
- Each contestant may submit up to five photo prints (in hard-copy form, either 5”X 7” or 8” X 10”). Photos may be taken with a regular or digital camera, but the photos must be submitted as prints for display and judging. PLEASE NOTE THAT PHOTOS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
- All entries must be submitted in individual envelopes with one entry form for all photos. Both the envelopes and the backs of the photos must be labeled with the following information:
a) Category in which you wish to have the photo judged.
b) A caption or title.
c) Study abroad program in which you participated and the date that you were abroad (spring, fall, or Winter III)
d) Location where the photo was taken (city and country, etc.)
e) Your name, e-mail address and phone number.
Please be sure to use a pencil or light pen so that your inscriptions do not leak through onto the side of the photo.
- If your photo is nominated as one of the top three photos in a category, you will be asked to email your photo as a hi-resolution file to Jeanne-Sarah de Larquier (jdelarquier@pacificu.edu) within 48 hours of notification. Thus, please be prepared ahead of time to email your photo(s) in case you are a winner. Failure to email the photo(s) within 48 hours of notification will result in your withdrawal from the contest and in the prize being reattributed to another contestant.
- Pacific faculty, staff and students will judge entries beginning December 5th until the mid-February 2010. Photos will be on display for judging in the CLIC (Scott Hall). After all votes have been counted, several judge entries will be randomly drawn and receive a choice of either 1 free hour of pool time on a 9ft table, courtesy of Ballad Town Billiards on Pacific Avenue.
- Winning photos may be printed in the Index, posted on the CLIC Website, and possibly used for Posters for International Programs. They will also appear as screensavers on the computers in the CLIC!
- Entry into the contest will be deemed permission to use your photo(s) for publicity purposes for International Programs and Study Abroad. Even if your photo is not a contest winner, it might very well be suitable for inclusion in such materials as the Pacific University brochure. In all cases, you will be credited for the photo in publications.
- ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS OFFICE BY noon on Friday, December 4th, 2009, or, if sent from abroad, postmarked no later than December 4th, 2009. Winners will be informed via emails, and winning photos will be displayed as screen savers on all 24 computers at the CLIC for before then end of February 2010.
We look forward to receiving your entries! If you have any questions, please contact Professor Jeanne-Sarah de Larquier, e-mail: jdelarquier@pacificu.edu
