Alaska and Hawai‘i Outreach

Pacific University School of Pharmacy strives to develop a student body rich in diversity, perspectives and life experiences. It is also our goal to develop pharmacists who have an interest in returning to practice with underserved populations and in areas where it may be difficult to recruit pharmacists.

Pacific School of Pharmacy Students in Hawaii

To help promote these ideas, we have developed a program in which applicants who are from Alaska or Hawai‘i will be automatically offered an on-site interview if they meet the minimum admissions criteria outlined by the School of Pharmacy. While this does not guarantee admission, it is an acknowledgement of our commitment to the states of Hawai‘i and Alaska to help them meet their healthcare needs.

If students from Alaska or Hawai‘i are admitted to the program, they will complete all of their didactic work on campus in Hillsboro, Ore., with the rest of their class. However, students from these states may be able to complete many of their rotations in their home states, depending on student interest and site availability. Pacific University School of Pharmacy continually seeks out rotation sites in Alaska and Hawai‘i that will provide students with quality experiences and networking opportunities.

There is no separate application for this Student Outreach Initiative. Students are initially identified through their permanent or current address on their PharmCAS application. Please contact Graduate Admissions if you have any questions.
