Meet Current Student Leaders | Audiology

Our Student Ambassadors play a large role in offering current student perspectives for prospective students and applicants to our Doctor of Audiology program. As much as our faculty and staff can offer our advice and perspective, our Student Ambassadors provide as an invaluable resource to get to know our program on a deeper level.

Our Ambassadors assist with all on-campus and virtual prospective student events hosted by the School of Audiology, such as our Open Houses and Interview Days.

If you would like to speak with a current student about their experience applying to, choosing Pacific University's School of Audiology, or what it is like to be a current student, you are encouraged to email one or many of our Student Ambassadors. They will be happy to help you!

Why did I choose Pacific | When looking for graduate schools, Pacific stood out to me from the start for a few reasons. I had been living all around Oregon for the past few years and I knew that I wanted to continue to live in the beautiful PNW. In addition, Pacific is a 3 year program. As someone who is married and plans on having children, having a shorter program fits my needs. Something that's different is that we take on class at a time for two weeks then move on to the next. All of the classes build on each other and you utilize the material as you go. With this, our classes are pass/fail meaning we do not see our number grades which seizes competition among our cohort. The staff is genuinely amazing and care about you as not only a student, but a person and wants you to succeed. I felt Pacific's warmth and acceptance the first time I had a call with Carmel and knew that this was the only place I wanted to be.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love every aspect about being a student at Pacific! The staff does an amazing job at making sure you know what you're doing and are comfortable with the skills you learn. I love being able to spend time with my cohort not only in a professional setting, but on the weekends. The bond that I have created with my peers is lifelong and I am so lucky to be a part of the Pacific Fam.

Why did you choose Pacific | The first thing that drew me to Pacific's School of Audiology was its accelerated program and unique block scheduling, allowing me to focus fully on one course at a time. Throughout the application process, the faculty, staff, and student ambassadors fostered such a warm, supportive environment that I felt confident I would be joining a community dedicated to where everyone wants us to succeed. And, of course, the beauty of the PNW made the choice even more appealing!

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I truly appreciate how the program focuess on seeing us as whole individuals rather than just test scores and grades. The emphasis on collaboration and deepening our understanding of the field creates a pleasant atmosphere, relieving the constant pressure to compete against one another. Instead, we can focus on genuine growth and providing the best care as an audiologist.

Why I chose Pacific | I was looking for a fresh start outside of California, and Pacific University's accelerated program immediately caught my attention. After interviewing and hearing firsthand from students who spoke passionately about the program's structure and the supportive faculty, I knew this was the right place for me. The encouragement I received during my interview only reinforced my decision to choose Pacific, as it felt like a community where I could truly thrive.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | In undergrad, I was constantly stressed about maintaining a high GPA. The pass/fail system at Pacific has eased that pressure, allowing me to focus more on my learning and growth. I've also made amazing friends here. Above all, what drives me is the collective support from both staff and students - they genuinely want us to succeed and will work hard with us to help us achieve our goals.

Undergraduate Institution | Louisiana State University

Why I chose Pacific | I chose Pacific University because of the new experiences it would give me and the people I met through appling and interviewing. I grew up in Maryland and did my undergraduate program in Louisiana, so I was ready to try something new and came out to the PNW. My biggest factors for picking Pacific were the structure of the 3-year program and the support system they provided. Through the interview and application process, I was given a glimpse into the support we would have through the program and it did not disappoint! Talking to the current students helped me to know what I was getting into, and I feel more comfortable starting the program.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | My favorite things about being a student here are the people I am surrounded by and the layout of our program. I have an incredible support system within the faculty and staff and among my cohort. From the start, we get hands-on experience and are provided numerous opportunities for resume building, community outreach, and volunteer experience. My learning style fits best in the design of our program, and I have felt at home being here. Their main focus is making us the best clinicians we can be and it reflects in our everyday work!

Undergraduate Institution | Utah State University; B.S. double major - Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education; Human Development and Family Studies

Why I chose Pacific | I chose Pacific University because I believed it would best help me reach my goal of providing competent, professional care while educating my patients about their hearing, communication, or balance issues and the treatment options available to them. My confidence in the program stems from Pacific's unparalleled commitment to student success and hands-on learning. I was impressed by the support I received during the interview process, and talking with current students confirmed my choice. The faculty's enthusiasm and belief in the program, combined with the diversity of the community, were inspiring. The university's rigorous, fast-faced program immerses students in essential skills and concepts, while the larger cohort size offers invaluable peer interactions. The two-week program structure is perfect, it would allow me to focus on one class at a time. With multiple practice pods and 24/7 access to equipment, I would have continuous opportunities for hands-on learning. These resources gave me confidence that I would master the experience and knowledge this program offers.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | What I love most about being a student at Pacific University is the dynamic and collaborative environment. The larger cohort size means I get to interact with many peers, fostering a diverse and supportive community. The professors are friendly and always willing to help, alongside staff who genuinely want us to succeed, offering guidance in any way they can. They excel at teaching, ensuring we understand and can practice the material, even in challenging situations. We also have "buddies" from the cohort above us who assist with questions and practice. Additionally, countless volunteer opportunities allow us to serve the community while applying our newly learned skills in real-world practice. This combination of support, resources, and practical experience creates a stimulating and nurturing atmosphere where I am confident I can grow to my full potential.

Why I chose Pacific | Since my freshman year of undergrad, being part of this program has been a long-held dream. I attended multiple open houses, connected with current students, and toured the campus, including the clinic. I instantly felt a strong connection to the school and could envision myself here. I had the opportunity to shadow two audiologists at the Pacific Ear Clinic where this further solidified my desire to join the program. Witnessing their hard work, passion, and dedication to audiology made it clear that this is the program I want to be a part of.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | I lvoe how supported I feel from the faculty, staff, and other students. They have such big hearts and really just want the best for you. No matter where you come from, everyone makes this place feel like a home away from home. There are so many opportunities to learn more about audiology inside and outside of school which is something I value.

Why I chose Pacific | I chose to attend Pacific because I wanted to move back to the PNW area. Growing up here allowed me to experience the amazing biodiversity that the PNW has to offer. Pacific's 3-year audiology accelerated program also provides a unique experience unlike other 4-year programs. Prior to accepting, I received lots of support from the faculty, staff, and current students to help aid my decision and understanding of the program.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | My favorite aspect of being a student here at Pacific is the support that I am provided. The faculty and staff genuinely care about your success within the program and beyond. Likewise, the friendships I have been able to form with my classmates within my short time while attending Pacific University have been amazing. The family atmosphere among the Pacific University School of Audiology is something I have not experienced elsewhere.

Why I chose Pacific | Pacific’s excellent communication and responsiveness set this institution apart from all others first and foremost. These same qualities apply to their student ambassadors, faculty, and staff—ultimately solidifying my decision to choose this program. Moving to a new state is a significant commitment—especially as a family-oriented individual. The opportunity to talk to current students and meet knowledgeable clinicians before accepting my offer assured me that the opportunities and student-centered environment would provide me the ability to grow as a well-rounded audiologist.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | Being in an accelerated program is rigorous. However, the faculty’s open-door policy and willingness to help students outside of the classroom make me feel supported on my educational journey. While we spend extensive time in the classroom and clinic, the structure of the program allows me to use weekends as personal time—especially in between courses. I use this time to make it a point to focus on my mental health and enjoy quality time exploring Oregon with friends!

Why I chose Pacific | When searching for an Audiology program, I knew I wanted an accelerated program out of state to gain some new life experiences! I was intrigued by the block model of this program. Focusing on one class at a time is less overwhelming and balances out other aspects of this program such as lab and clinic. As a prospective student, Pacific University provided us with resources such as a Student Ambassador to allow open opportunities to answer any questions I had about the program. Knowing how much the School of Audiology emphasizes on mental health, and support of diversity, inclusivity, and equity for you as a student throughout this process, made Pacific University an easy choice for me to further my education!

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | As previously mentioned, the vast support from my cohort and faculty, made moving away from home easier than I anticipated. It is an aspect of the program that I highly appreciate. In addition, I value professional opportunities such as Student Ambassadors, Student Academy of Audiology, and Oregon Academy of Audiology to utilize what I learn while connecting and helping the community.

Why I chose Pacific | I chose Pacific because of the positive learning environment that would help me thrive as a student. I liked the idea of an accelerated block schedule because I would be able to focus on one course at a time and dive deeper into the material. I was also intrigued by how the program had such a focus on collaboration and inclusivity because being able to learn and work with other students is something that has always helped me as a student. Attending open houses and getting to talk to current students was also extremely insightful for me to have a better understanding of how the cohort grows together throughout the program. In addition to all the things Pacific has to offer, I felt the most warmth and welcome from this program during the application and interview process compared to many other programs.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | I'm someone who enjoys having a routine, and the structure of this program provides me with a consisten schedule that keeps me busy and focused. I also love how supportive and understanding all of the faculty and staff are here at Pacific. Something that stood out to me is the number of opportunities that are available here at Pacific to get involved and be a part of the community. At Pacific, students are encouraged to take on volunteer opportunities and get involved in SAA (Student Academy of Audiology) and OAA (Oregon Academy of Audiology). The accelerated program offers a challenge in being fast-paced but allows me to get hands-on practice as I learn new concepts. I grew up in the PNW and I've learned to love Oregon. There are so many activities to do and the scenery here is unbeatable!

Why I chose Pacific | I chose Pacific because of how supportive and welcoming the staff and students were. During the application process, Pacific was the only school to send emails consistently to check in on applicants and provide resources for any help needed. During interviews, the staff and students seemed to be very close with one another, and the staff was very warm and welcoming rather than trying to intimidate students. Additionally, students seemed very happy and proud of their program. After interviewing, Pacific continued to reach out to provide this support to me just during my application process, I would most definitely receive all of the support I needed during the challenging journey of graduate school.

What I like about being a student here at Pacific | The Pacific staff and fellow classmates have really become my second family. Moving to a different state was terrifying for me and I was worried about feeling alone. After making the move and starting the program, I have realized that it is practically impossible to feel alone in this program. The staff are so easy to talk to about anything and my classmates are very supportive of one another. The students in their second year of this program have also been a huge help to me. Having the support of both the staff and fellow students has made the transition from undergraduate education to an accelerated program much smoother than I coulve have imagined. Everyone involved with Pacific is truly rooting for you and will help you in any way you need to succeed!

Why did you choose Pacific | I found that having the opportunity to speak with the current students to get a different perspective helped me make the decision to choose Pacific. I loved the commandery between the perspective students and the current students during the Open Houses and Interview Days; that open yet positive communication us. The idea of the accelerated program is what instantly drew me liking Pacific University. During the Open House and Interview Days I did not feel like just another number. The students and faculty were so welcoming and able to answer all my questions and if they did not know the answer at the time, they were able to reply to me in a timely fashion.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I still love the commandry between the year 2 students and year 1 students. Everyone is willing to help each other to grasp the material or adjust to this new setting.  Having the open lab times, onsite ear clinic are very helpful in learning the material. I also love having such a diverse environment to learn from. Not everyone has a CSD background which I find brings such a different perspective to the way I look at things now.  I also love the accelerated blocks as I feel like I understand and retain the material more than I did when I was in undergrad. This program supports and empowers its students, whether its having questions answered by another student, facility, or the numerous resources available to us.

Why did you choose Pacific | After living in Oregon for the past 5 years, I knew I wanted to stay in the PNW for graduate school. Pacific’s interview process was unlike any of the other interviews I had done. I was able to talk with current students and they helped ease my mind about the transition to graduate school, as well as the transition to Pacific in general. After my interview, I knew Pacific was going to be the school for me because everyone was so kind and welcoming, and I knew that was an environment I could thrive in.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | My favorite thing about being a student at Pacific is the collaborative aspect of it. As a typically closed off person I was a bit nervous to meet new people. However, my cohort has been amazing. We all got so close in such a short amount of time, which was something I was looking for when choosing a school. We are constantly working in small groups, which has allowed us to learn so much about each other. Everyone is so supportive, and I know I can count on anybody in my cohort, they have truly made a huge impact on my time here.

Why did you choose Pacific | When applying to graduate programs, I was initially drawn to Pacific for a couple of reasons. Being from the south, I knew I wanted to move somewhere different and I have always loved the PNW. Additionally, the accelerated program style and two-week block schedule were very appealing because I love fast-paced learning where we only focus on one course at a time which is something I hadn’t experienced before but works well with my learning style. The application process made me feel very at ease and cared about as a student and a person. I could tell the faculty, staff and student ambassadors I encountered loved the program and cared about my success throughout the admissions process which was a good indicator for how I would be supported in the program. Coming from a large state school environment, I was definitely excited to have a smaller class size and get to know my professors and peers on a more personal basis. Everyone is extremely supportive here and makes it really easy to have fun learning!

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love the hands-on aspect of learning at Pacific! We immediately apply what we learn in class in lab and in clinic with the wide array of resources offered 24/7. The community in the SOA is very collaborative and I truly enjoy the diversity of the program because I love to meet people who have different backgrounds and experiences. The pass/fail style of our classes also gets rid of the more competitive aspect a lot of people are used to, and encourages us to work together towards understanding our field which is very refreshing coming from a competitive undergrad environment where the focus would often fall on your GPA only. Overall, I love everyone in my cohort and I was surprised on how easy it was to meet people and make friends. I couldn’t have asked for a better environment to continue my education in.

Why did you choose Pacific | Aside from being a Pacific University alumna, I knew I wanted to attend Pacific's program as soon as I stepped into the EarClinic as a little freshman undergraduate student. The faculty has always been very welcome and expressed their support for students. That supportiveness was an essential part of me choosing to pursue an accelerated program and some of the professors here that I've worked with are the ones that inspired me to become an audiologist.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | The way the program is structured is my favorite part about being a student here because of my learning preferences. The faculty, cohort, and the program's location are key aspects of encouraging good practice. I absolutely adore my cohort buddies and being with them every day helped me make good friends (one of my biggest fears!).

After attending the open house, I was drawn by how close the community was and how much they really cared about my success. Community is very important to me and when I noticed how much resources they had available for their students regarding the audiology program and mental health, I knew that their values aligned with mine!

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love all the resources that is given to us in order to succeed, as well as the block schedule! Focusing on one class for two weeks helps immensely rather than having multiple classes all at once! I feel like this block schedule has really made it easy for me to navigate my way through school and fully understand the material being taught. Aside from academics, I absolutely love the amount of support I get from the faculty and staff of this program. What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love being a student at Pacific. Our audiology program is so much fun and educational. I usually arrive at seven in the morning to make myself a coffee and eat in our kitchen area called the "bar noir." Everyone always says hi to you, even if it's the first time they are meeting you. Beth is always having us do fun activities for the week, and the preceptors always have a smile on their faces. I talk to the year two students like they are my older siblings. Our kitchen area is always decorated for the holidays and significant events, and we always have fun activities to participate in and get to know each other. Around 8 a.m., I usually start clinic or lab, depending on the day. We have class in the afternoon with our preceptor; they always make the lecture fun and engaging. You can tell the whole faculty and the staff wants you to succeed. There is so much hands-on learning, which I desperately wanted from my undergrad. There is also a lot of visual learning, which helps me a ton when studying. Class usually ends around 4–5 p.m., depending on the subject. I know it sounds like many hours, but there is never a dull day. This program is a different learning environment where I grasp the concepts faster than just reading about them and trying to figure out what the authors means. Whenever I have a question, the preceptors stay after class to explain the concepts differently if I am confused. They also have office hours where I can walk in to ask a quick question or chat with them. If you like learning hands-on and feeling part of a family, this program is for you.

Why did you choose Pacific | As a non-traditional student going back to school with a small family, the 3-year accelerated pace and ability to participate in internships starting the 2nd year were huge decision-factors for me. I am eager and excited to start a new career in a field I feel passionate about and where I can help better the lives of others daily so I think it’s great that our “real-world” clinical experiences will start so soon! I also loved the idea of a larger, more diverse cohort of students and felt like I could thrive best in a fast-paced environment with more students to collaborate with and learn from.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | Everything! I am so thankful to be here and I truly feel like I’ve already made lifelong friends and mentors. Everyone from my fellow cohort colleagues, to faculty and staff really want each of us to succeed and it definitely shows. Why did you choose Pacific | While viewing my options for graduate programs, Pacific already stood out to me as being one of the few 3 year programs available, and the only 1 of 2 in the West coast where I wanted to stay close to home. I have found Oregon to be a beautiful place with plenty of places to be outdoors in nature. In addition to the location, and is already well-known, is the accelerated curriculum. It is the best style of learning for me, as I don’t mind a fast-paced environment. The free weekends after exams allow me to explore Oregon more!

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I chose a program with a larger cohort because I missed the dynamic I had in high school, with a group of people I felt comfortable with instead of just 5 or 10. There is more opportunity to find people you click with.

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose Pacific because of its location in the beautiful PNW, accelerated program style, and block course schedule. Being from the Midwest, I wanted to see as much of the area as possible. Hillsboro is an hour away from Portland, and in the opposite direction an hour from the coast. There’s no shortage of places to explore. The program is designed to give students hands-on experience within the first week. Pacific also has a block schedule, where we spend two weeks in a class, take an exam, and move on. It’s rigorous but so rewarding. I feel challenged to do the best I can at Pacific and it’s a gratifying experience.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I felt like I was considered a student when I accepted my admission offer- long before I was on campus. That’s where the support and community started. Throughout the admissions process, I was never ‘just a number'. Faculty and current students made genuine efforts to get to know me and welcomed me warmly to Pacific. One thing that sticks out to me is several faculty members routinely ask “what can I be doing to better support you?” The faculty want to see you succeed and are willing to help as they can. There are so many resources in addition to faculty that are always available to students like counseling services, and support groups. But what I like the most at Pacific is the supportive community.

Why did you choose Pacific | Upon attending open houses and going through the interview process, Pacific struck me as an exciting prospect for an engaging academic experience. I was ecstatic to find a rigid and fast paced audiology program that coincided with my affinity for the science of sound. Witnessing the enthusiastic nature of the faculty and students further fueled my decision to choose Pacific as an optimal program to pursue this field of study.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | Being a student at Pacific has been unlike any experience I would have thought to have in life. I've already learned a lot about my motivation and work ethic and am looking forward to exploring the many facets of audiology. The dynamic of my cohort has been lovely. Working and collaborating with a diverse group of determined individuals has been one of my favorite aspects of the program.

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose Pacific University because they were very helpful and understanding about me using my GI Bill® benefit from the get-go which gave me a huge sense of relief. All of the faculty and staff, especially Carmel Nicol, were so friendly I simply wanted to be around them during graduate school because I knew I would be cared for. I was tired of having multiple courses at a time in undergrad so the two-week block curriculum that has one class at a time was very tempting to me. As it turns out, I absolutely love it! Lastly, it was an accelerated three-year program and I really liked the idea of being done a year early.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | It’s really nice being an audiology student at Pacific University because the Pacific Ear Clinic is in the same building (on the same floor, actually!) as the classrooms that we take our classes in. I like being able to get hands-on experience right away: we got to go to the clinic the second week of class and now shadow our instructor audiologists every other week. At the same time, the knowledge we get from our courses are applied right away in the lab and this helps cement what we learn in class. There is a nice balance between academic work, lab, and clinic that I truly enjoy. Most importantly, everyone (faculty and students included) have been so friendly I felt right at home from day one!

Why did you choose Pacific | One of the things that stood out to me about Pacific right off the bat was the 2 week block program. The idea of focusing on one specific area at a time was very appealing to me, especially being through programs in undergrad that consisted of multiple classes daily and jumping around all over campus. I also liked the idea of digging deep into a topic and then being able to apply skills gained from the course to our labs and the courses to follow. I excelled with the common-core style of teaching when I was younger because it implemented a similar approach to learning and I was thrilled to find a professional program that accomplished this element in its very own style. Watching all the videos and studying-up on the University really solidified my interest. I was intrigued by the SimLab and all the equipment we have available to us as students to hone our skills. (And, yes! We really do have access to our own little pods to practice!) Finally, I attended Pacific's open houses and was able to talk to current students in the program. They were honest and helpful, answering all sorts of questions. I really enjoyed the open house experience and how it was structured; it spoke loudly about how the university cares for its students.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | Like I mentioned before, all the resources we have to practice our skills are quite impressive. The university makes sure we have the best of the best and they stay up to date with the ever-changing world of audiology. The amount of support we receive from the faculty/staff here is like nothing I've experienced anywhere else. We have faculty/staff that will send us "Happy Friday" emails, ask us how they can support us this week, and bring us doughnuts because "why not, it's Friday after an exam". That's just the kind of people they are and they really shape this program into a place we can feel we belong. Also, you are with the same cohort for all your courses. Friends are made so quickly and you really begin to care and support each other. This is not a competitive cohort scenario, we really do lean on each other and support one another!

Why did you choose Pacific | I initially was drawn to Pacific by the accelerated, 3-year program timeline. I was also very excited to learn that audiology students at Pacific begin clinical observation in the first week of class. It definitely made the program at Pacific stand out! The thing that most impressed me, though, was the two-week courses. Focusing on one course at a time really suits my learning style, and I knew I would excel in this type of environment. When I began contacting the student ambassadors and staff at Pacific, everyone was so friendly and helpful and made me feel valued. I immediately could see myself as a student, and Pacific became my top choice!

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I have really enjoyed being a part of the ‘25 cohort. There is a good sense of community among
us, and it makes school enjoyable. The pass/fail grading scheme really fosters teamwork and collaboration among the entire class. The location near the coast in the beautiful Pacific Northwest is an added bonus, and there is lots to explore on the weekend break between courses. As an international student, I also really appreciate that internships and externships can be completed anywhere. It gives me the opportunity to explore both the American and Canadian realms of Audiology before I even begin my career. However, I would say my favorite part of the program is definitely the two-week courses. They do move very fast, but I have retained more information than I ever did in my undergraduate courses. I think the audiology program at Pacific ended up being the perfect fit for me.

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose Pacific becasue it's an institution that values diversity and leadership; the two values that I always looked for. Being raised in a multi-cultural environment, I felt safe coming into this program that accepted students from different backgrounds, but similar goals. Additionally, the accelerated program stood out as it played a major role in my decision-making process. Talking to the faculty, I realized that they shared the same vision for the world of audiology which helped me realize how we can be a big part of it through this well-structured program at Pacific.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love the fact that I can practice my clinic and diagnostic skills anytime I want. Having the labs, equipment, and a lot of resources available for me at all times made me feel more motivated to succeed and master my skills. Moreover, the faculty and students were very friendly and welcoming as everyone is willing to offer help and share their experiences to guide us through. As a Middle Eastern doctoral student, I am honored to be a part of such a diverse and supportive program.

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose Pacific because of all the great things I’ve heard about it from friends and family! It’s very organized and the staff and students made me feel so welcomed during the whole interview process. The 3-year program, the Pacific Northwest, and internship opportunities also caught my attention.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love everything about it! From the professors, to the students, to the organization of the schedule, to the incredible staff, and the student engagement opportunities that it has to offer; all make the program very unique. I feel supported and have learned so much already!

Why did you choose Pacific | When I first applied to the AuD program at Pacific University, I thought the application process was going to be the same as any other graduate program, but I quickly learned that not all schools have the same approach in selecting their students. So, when I went through the interview process, I immediately felt at ease. The interviewer I was assigned to was incredibly sweet. I truly felt heard and accepted, especially as a hard of hearing individual, they saw me for me. I knew right then and there that PU was the one, which gave me the confidence to choose this program. I'm grateful to be where I am today and I only hope to pay forward that kindness in some beautiful way.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | What gravitated me towards the program was Pacific's block schedule. Rather than taking multiple courses at once throughout the semester, we take one class every two weeks. This allows us to focus on the concepts at hand and really retrain the information we learn. It creates this expectation from the program and prepares us mentally for what's ahead. One other factor I like about being a student here are the staff members and the Year 2's at Pacific. They are all genuinely king, compassionate, inclusive, and altogether, incredible. I feel like I'm surrounded by peers and staff members who I can call family. They all truly make the experience worthwhile and rewarding.

Why did you choose Pacific | After interviewing with several other institutions, Pacific made me feel that they genuinely want their students to succeed and are there to support me throughout my Audiology journey. Pacific provides a challenging and engaging learning experience. This is important for me to grow and become the best Audiologist for my patients. Beyond the school, Oregon is a beautiful place to live and provides many opportunities.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | The biggest thing about being a student at Pacific is the support our cohort has for one other. We each offer something unique. This provides diversity in our learning. Additionally, the faculty is very passionate about what they teach and creates an environment I am comfortable asking questions.

Why did you choose Pacific | After deciding on a career change and finally making the decision to pursue my dream of being an Audiologist, I explored programs across the country. As a non-traditional student, I looked into programs that would suit my learning style. The 3-year accelerated pace was a major draw for me. Pacific promotes large cohorts and I felt I would thrive in a large cohort as it would allow me to not only share my experiences, but others in my cohort would be a valuable resource to me. When I attended open houses and ultimately my interview day, I met and saw others who were similar to me. In short, I could see myself attending this program. The Student Ambassadors and staff were very supportive in my journey of finding the right program. I knew very quickly that Pacific would be the right fit for me.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I really enjoy the support from not only my cohort but the professors and staff alike. Everyone is in the program for the same reason and the structure makes it more collaborative versus competitive. The facilities are outstanding and world-class from the Pacific EarClinic to the lab spaces and classrooms.

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose Pacific because of the unique learning experience it provides. Because of the block schedule I am able to focus on one class at a time which is perfect for my learning style. The amount of hands-on experience this program offers is another reason why I chose Pacific. With yearlong labs and an on-campus clinic, being able to practice and develop clinical skills is made convenient. Another reason for choosing Pacific was because of how welcoming everyone was. The faculty/staff didn’t treat me like another test score and made an effort to get to know me beyond just school.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I love how everyone at Pacific wants you to succeed. From the faculty/staff to the students in your cohort, everyone is in this together. Because of the class structure it is easy to become close to your cohort and work together to succeed. The faculty/staff are always available as amazing resources and help you through every step of the way. Because Pacific is an accelerated program it is easy to fall behind, just know there is always someone in your corner to help you get back on track!

Undergraduate Institution | University of Nevada, Reno; B.S. Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology; Double minor in Indigenous Studies and Community Health Science

Why did you choose Pacific | I chose to come to Pacific because it was the only program that went out of their way to really make me feel like they cared about me and my success, and about every student that was even just thinking about applying in general! This was a huge deciding factor for me because if they cared enough about me through the application process then I knew that they’d extend that same amount of care while I was actually in the program. I also chose Pacific because of the accelerated aspect of the program and the block-style curriculum. I liked the idea of being able to attain all my education/ skills within three years instead of four, and that the block style curriculum suited my learning style better than the other programs' method of teaching.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I honestly really love the overall atmosphere and level of support here at Pacific University. All of the Professors are kind and take the time to make sure you are understanding the material being taught before moving onto the next subjects. I also appreciate how those in our cohort aren't competitive with each other! Everyone is on the same level of playing field and we all want each other to succeed! I also wasn't expecting to meet friends so quickly here, but that is exactly what happened! So If you are thinking about applying to Pacific just know that you'll have the best support system!

Why did you choose Pacific | I toured Pacific University the year I applied to graduate school and was instantly drawn to this program for a few reasons. Everyone I met was so welcoming, kind, and encouraging. It was evident that all the faculty/staff here truly care about their students and want them to succeed. I loved how organized and well-ran the program was when attending the open house and interview day. I also really liked and still do like the block schedule we have here. I love being able to fully dive into one course topic at a time. Beyond academically, I have always wanted to live in Oregon because it is so beautiful around here. There are so many pretty sights to see and visit. One of my favorite places to be is the Oregon coast.

What do you like about being a student here at Pacific | I really enjoy the fast-paced environment we have here at Pacific. While quick change can be overwhelming, it keeps me from getting burnt out. Each class is different, new, and exciting. I really love having 1 course at a time because instead of stressing about 4-5 classes, you only have to focus on 1. I love the connections and friendships I have made here as well with people in the cohort. There is no competitive feeling, everyone just wants to help each other succeed.
