Pacific Students to Perform Jazz at Montinore

Members of Pacific University's Small Jazz Ensemble will perform in the tasting room of Montinore Estate on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.


The Small Jazz Ensemble consists of keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums, along with vocal, trombone and baritone saxophone soloists.  The performers create their own arrangements of beloved jazz standards, as well as blues, pop, and several original compositions.  They have been popular performers in Forest Grove, appearing previously at the Forest Grove City Library and Valley Art Association. 

The ensemble features: David Brouillette, trombone; Ethan Woodis, Baritone Sax; James Owen, vocals; Phillip Cox, Guitar; Terra Hurdle, keyboard and vocals; Marcel Bailey, drums; and Maria McLaughlin, bass. 

Music Department Chair Dr. Michael Burch-Pesses is head of the jazz program at Pacific University.  Pacific piano instructor, Rhonda Ringering, teaches the Small Jazz Ensemble class.
