The Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Michael Burch-Pesses, will play a variety of jazz standards from Duke Ellington’s “Take the ‘A’ Train” to “Swing, Swing, Swing” from the movie “1941.” Pacific University's jazz choir, under the direction of Dana Libonati, will present an eclectic mix of jazz styles from standards such as "Please Be Kind" and "Centerpiece" to music from contemporary groups like Tower of Power. The group consists of nine singers and rhythm section, and many student soloists will be featured. The high point of the evening will be special Yamaha Artist Greg Yasinitsky, composer and jazz saxophonist, who also will join the band to play tenor sax as the band performs several of his compositions.
