School of Pharmacy Alumni, Are you Missing Out?

Did you know that a recent survey of Pacific University School of Pharmacy alumni (n=1) found that 100% of us have a fear of missing out (FOMO) when it comes to alumni-related communication and activities? True story.

While we’re on the subject of “things you didn’t know that you didn’t know”:

  • Did you know that the School of Pharmacy appointed a new Dean in July 2023?  Dr. Marketa Marvanova joined the School after serving as dean and professor at Skaggs School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana.
  • Did you know that over the past two years, the School of Pharmacy has phased out the legacy “modified block” curriculum and Pass/No Pass grading system in favor of a modern, integrated curriculum?
  • Did you know that the School of Pharmacy is seeking approval for the first-in-the-nation five-year PharmD for students who need to continue to work or to care of family members and may not be able to immerse themselves in a three-year or four-year program?
  • Did you know that across the country, the number of total applicants for pharmacy school is down nearly 50% compared to a decade ago?
  • Did you know there are ways you can get involved to assist Pacific in the recruitment and education of exceptional pharmacy graduates?

I don’t mean to scare you, but if you didn’t know these things, you might be missing out!

Most likely, if you’re reading this, you probably haven’t missed many of these changes. But, I bet you know someone who has! Do them a favor and tell them to go to https://www.pacificu.edu/alumni/stay-connected/keep-touch and update their contact information so they can be kept in the loop.

There’s no need to be afraid of missing out as an alumnus of Pacific University School of Pharmacy! Keep your information updated and we will share all the great news (did you know our PGY-1 residency match rate was 91% this year compared to the national average of 82%?), exciting opportunities (did you know we have open faculty positions (www.pacificu.edu/jobs) right now?), and other ways to get involved (did you know you can “refer a PharmD” (www.pacificu.edu/pharmacy/admissions/inquire) and our admissions team will reach out to them and encourage them to apply?).

Say “goodbye” to FOMO and “hello!” to JOGI (Joy Of Getting Involved). We’d love to hear from you or see you on campus sometime!  Help us reach other alumni who haven’t updated their contact info by forwarding this newsletter to them. They don’t deserve to live in fear of missing out!
