Review Tips for Using Mail Services

With everyone starting to settle into the new school year, we'd like to share a few pointers for getting the most out of your mailbox.

  • Did you get a notification from the sender that your package was delivered? That doesn't mean that it's ready for pick-up.
    • If it's from USPS, the "delivered" date and time indicate the morning that it was cleared to leave the post office, not the time we got it. Please wait until at least 9:30 to start picking up items.
    • If it's UPS or FedEx, "delivered" generally means it's been dropped off at mail services. We still need to figure out who each box belongs to and put the green slips in the boxes, so please wait at least an hour after getting the delivery notification.
    • If it's Amazon, then "delivered" means it's been dropped off at mail services. However, Amazon tends to drop off anywhere between 50-250 things at once, so again, please wait at least an hour after getting the delivery notification. With large Amazon deliveries, we try to put out batches of cards as we work, so there may be one package ready for pick-up when you check your box at one time, and then a second or third box if you check back later that day (even if they were delivered at the same time).
    • Your package is ready for pick-up when the green slip is in your box. If it's been over 24 hours since your package says it was delivered and you don't have a green slip, feel free to talk to us and we'll see if we can track it down.
      • Having the tracking number is useful for this, but reception is terrible in the basement so consider loading the email before you come down to talk to us.

  • Do you need to send a letter or package? We can help!
    • We have shipping supplies and stamps available for purchase, but please note that we are a cash-only operation. There is an ATM above us next to the info desk if you need to get cash.
    • If your package is a return and already has its shipping label on it, then just hand it off to us and we can make sure that it gets picked up by whichever service it's supposed to go to.
    • We can send things via USPS, UPS and FedEx; ask us about your options if you need something signed for, or to get there super fast!
