Pacific Hall Update | Week of Oct. 23

Most of the painting on level 2 will be complete by the end of the week of Oct. 23. Ceiling grids, cloud ceilings, and light fixtures are being installed throughout level 2. Downstairs, the fire sprinkler piping passed inspection, and the team will begin replacing the light fixtures next week.

Drywall and taping are ongoing, and the painters will rotate downstairs once complete on level 2. Plaster re-work for the existing l1 restroom refresh gets underway next week, with tiling for both the new and existing restrooms set to begin in early to mid November.

In the lobby, ceilings are being painted and strut for cloud ceiling is being installed. Storefront will be set towards the end of the first full week of November, and access control will be installed at the main entry and the new computer labs upstairs.

At the building exterior, replacement of the caulk joints is underway, and the exterior paint mock-up has been completed. Joint replacement, followed by brick washing, sealing and exterior paint, will continue to rotate counterclockwise around the building beginning from the east face through the month of November. All windows have now been installed and passed their final round of testing this week. 

The project remains on schedule for substantial completion by Jan. 10, 2024, and re-opening of the building for the beginning of spring semester on Jan. 29, 2024.

Detailed Construction Update

Site & Exterior Work

Demo of the existing caulk joints around the east, north, and west faces of the building will be complete by the end of this week. The new joints at the east and north face of the building were completed from Oct. 23 to 25. Install on the west face continues over the remainder of this week. Demo at the south face is ongoing, and the new joints at the south face is scheduled for completion by Oct. 30.

Brick wash begins at the east face of the building Oct. 30. The team will follow caulk install rotating counterclockwise around the building for the next two weeks, with completion scheduled for Nov. 9.

Brick sealing begins at the east face of the building Nov. 8, and will again rotate counterclockwise around the building. This work will continue through the month of November.

The exterior paint mockup was completed and approved this week. Full painting, beginning with the east face, will begin on Nov. 2 and again rotate counterclockwise around the building. This work will continue through the month of November.

New handrails at exterior ramps will be installed during the week of Nov. 13.

Windows

All windows have now been installed, including the windows previously being used for building heat and trash load out. Air seal and flashing will continue for the remainder of this week, with all activities related to the full window replacement scheduled for completion by Oct. 30. This represents another phase of the project complete and another milestone for the project.

The second and final round of window testing took place on Oct. 24. All specimens tested passed without issue.

Interior Finishes, Level 2

  • Drywall taping was complete on level 2 with a couple of exception at select locations. Painting has been ongoing over the past two weeks, and the vast majority of spaces on level 2 will be painted by Oct. 27.
  • Framing for ceiling grid and cloud ceiling is ongoing this week and next, with completion scheduled for Nov. 1.
  • Door frames in zone 1 are being prepped and painted this week and next, with completion scheduled for Nov. 1. Zone 2 door frames will be prepped and painted from Nov. 9 to 13.
  • Doors and hardware in zone 1 will be installed from Nov. 13 to 15 in zone 1. In zone 2, doors and hardware will be installed from Nov.17 to 21.
  • MEPF trim will be installed from Oct. 30 to Nov. 15.
  • Wall protection and whiteboards will be installed from Nov. 6 to 14.
  • Storefront for the new pods and conference rooms will be installed on Nov. 8.
  • Cabinets in the new prep room will be installed on Nov. 2. Countertops will be installed on Nov. 17.
  • Carpet install is scheduled for Nov. 13 to 20.
  • Rough clean in zone 1 will take place from Nov.13 to 15. In zone 2, rough clean will take place from Nov. 8 to 10.
  • Concrete floor polishing will begin Nov. 17, and continue through the end of November.

Interior Finishes, Level 1

  • Drywall hanging and taping is ongoing throughout level 1. This work will continue through Nov. 14.Pacific Hall Construction
  • Painting will take place from Nov. 6 to 9, in zone 1, and Nov. 15 to 21, in zone 2.
  • Fire sprinkler piping has been completed and passed inspection. Replacement of light fixtures began on Oct. 30, and will continue through most of the month of November.
  • Fire sprinkler heads have been mounted in zone 1. Heads are being mounted in zone 2, with completion scheduled for Oct. 27.
  • The scaffolding at the main stair will be removed on Nov. 10.
  • Ceiling framing in the offices and hallways in zone 1 will take place from Nov. 13 to 16. Ceiling framing in zone 2 will be completed on Nov. 22.
  • Prepping and painting door frames in zone 1 will take place Nov. 13-14. Doors and hardware will be installed from Nov. 15 to 17.
  • MEPF trim in zone 1 will be installed Nov. 20-21.
  • Rough clean in zone 1 is scheduled for Nov. 20-22.

New Restrooms

  • Drywall, tile backer, taping is ongoing, with completion scheduled for Nov. 1.
  • Paint is scheduled for Nov. 2-3.
  • Tile install will begin the following week on Nov. 6, and continue over the course of that week.
  • Bathroom accessories will be installed from Nov. 13 to 15.
  • Concrete polishing will take place from Nov. 17 to 20.
  • MEPF trim will be installed Nov. 21-22.
  • Final clean will take place Nov. 27-28. All activities related to the new restrooms will be complete by the end of November.

Existing L1 Restrooms

  • Demo of existing tile and plaster is ongoing this week, with completion scheduled for Oct. 26.
  • Plaster rework will begin on Nov. 1 and continue through Nov. 15.
  • Tile install will begin Nov. 16, and continue through the remainder of the month of November.

Entry and Lobby

  • Wall and soffit framing was completed on Oct. 24.
  • Main entry storefront will be installed the week of Nov. 6.
  • Access control wiring at the main entry will be installed on Nov. 7.
  • Drywall and taping will take place from Nov. 13 to 22.
  • Entry painting will take place Nov. 27-28.
  • The wood plinth under the main stair will be refinished Nov. 16-17.
  • Acoustic ceiling panels at the lobby will be installed Nov. 20-21.

Upcoming Campus Events & Coordination

Nov. 22 to Nov. 24 | Thanksgiving Holiday. Campus closed starting at noon on  Nov. 22. No construction activities scheduled for Nov. 23 or 24.
