Alumni Association to Host Life 101: Will & Estate Strategies

Everyone needs a will.

A valid will helps families navigate medical decisions for their loved ones, as well as the decisions required after death. Sadly, many adults have experienced familial conflict during these difficult periods.

Parents need an estate plan to determine who will care for their children if the unthinkable happens. Folks with pets also need an estate plan to establish a guardian for their loved one.

A valid will can save families unnecessary expenses. When a person dies with no valid will in place, the probate process can be extended by months or years and can erode up to 10% of the estate.  

Yet, about 68% of Americans lack a valid will.

On Feb. 24, the Pacific University Alumni Association will host a session in the Life 101 series designed to help alumni, employees and students achieve the peace of mind that comes with having a will in place.

Current trustee and attorney Matthew Lowe will present on will and estate strategies in our Life 101 series. This session is designed as a broad overview to help guests begin this important work.

This event is free and open to all members of the university community and their guests.  

Alumni, employees and students are invited to make this a family conversation by extending the invitation to adult children and/or parents.
