Two Pacific Students Awarded US Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship To Study Abroad
Passina Abe and Meriya Sanchez will study in Japan and India, respectively, this fall. They are among just 1,150 undergraduate students nationally to receive the scholarship.
Julia Brim-Edwards (Nike), Sheri Garboden '76 (Flir Systems) and Norman Scott '63 (Ret. US Navy) began their terms on July 1 along with faculty representative Graham Erickson (College of Optometry) and graduate student representative Katie Ohene (Clinical Psychology). Longtime trustee Gerald Yoshida '73 elected as board chair.
Pacific is among 12 private colleges and universities in the state participating. Students who register in advance and visit at least four institutions during the week will receive application fee waivers, and may use the waivers to apply to any Oregon Alliance of Independent Colleges and Universities member institution.
