In the News: Smile Care Everywhere Mobile Dental Hygiene Clinic Cares for Underserved

Pacific University’s Smile Care Everywhere initiative, a service of the School of Dental Hygiene Studies, has been featured in the summer 2016 edition of Streamline, the chief publication of the Migrant Clinicians Network.

Expanding Practice, Serving the Underserved illuminates the unique mobile clinic service provided by Pacific dental hygiene students under the supervision of faculty and staff, led by assistant professor Wilber Ramirez-Rodriguez.

Smile Care Everywhere serves migratory and seasonal agricultural workers, pregnant women, and children in collaboration with the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and others.

“We do clinics at the vineyards, at the nurseries, and other locations for migrant farmworkers,” Ramirez-Rodriguez told Streamline. “We go to the places where they work, so they don’t have to miss their work hours.”
